My Brother Sam is Dead

In the story, Sam joins the American Revolutionary Army because he feels that the colonists are taxed unfairly by the British. His father thinks that fighting over taxes is not worth the lives that will be lost. Sam claims he is standing up for a principle. Write about a time you stood up for something you believe in. Describe what you did and how it made you feel.

One day, a random girl from 4th grade was messing around with Mr. Tias' (I think that's how you spell it), but the day before, he told us to top anyone messing around with his equipment. I told to my friend, " We should stop that girl.", but my friend disagreed. Therefore, I went to stop the girl.

I felt confident I was doing the right thing because she was doing something she wasn't supposed to. However, she refused to stop, so I told Mr. Tais who thanked me. I felt great becauseI knew I did the right thing.

Once, I discussed with my friend about banning the use of plastic bags. He said they should keep the use of plastic bags because they help our economy and many people may lose their jobs. I disagreed with him and reminded him that they are bad for our environment. At the end, he still disagreed that plastic bags should be banned, though he wished we could use other materials. The debate made me feel that it is hard to change minds of people's opinions.

I once had to stand up against my mom and I arguing about reading a book. I knew the book was a good one but my mom said it wasn't.

one time at my other school I stood up to some fifth graders when I was in second grade that were tring to convince us that that they lost their ball (they really did)and my friend's ball, that she brought from home was there's. So I told them that it was her ball and they were mistakened with their's and her ball, but they said that there was a smiley face on the ball with washable markers and they saw us go into the bathroom repeativly and wash off the ball. So I said "We did go to wash the ball a lot but only because it was raining and the ball got into mud a lot."That settled the figt and my friend got to keep her ball and the fifth graders found their ball. I felt good about what I did because the mean fifth graders were going to take something that was rightfully hers.

feel that Sam did the right thing to stand up for his principles. Because of this we are living in this wonderful free state. Once I stood up for a problem in math, the answer in the teacher's textbook was incorrect and everyone said that it was correct. Then I proved it on the whiteboard and everybody started to understand that I was right and there was a typo in the teacher's textbook. After that situation I felt that I done something correct and I felt happy that I stuck to it even though everyone said that it was wrong.

Once I stood up for me and my friend when we were walking down the street. Suddenly, someone said that my friend's shoes were ugly. I told the bully they were not. This experience made me proud (and a little embarrassed when I was talking to the bully!!). My friend said that made him feel better.

One time, in a the summer camp that I went to, Almost everybody there was a Boston Celtics fan. Only my brother and I were fans of the Lakers. When the Finals came. it was the Lakers vs. the Celtics. Everybody kept on teasing us about how the Lakers were gonna lose, but the Lakers won by 4 points. It felt good when they won.

One time people were teasing me about what I wore on my head. I explained a little about it. Then I made a presentation in my classroom about what I wore on my head and why is it important to me. It made me feel good that I stood firm for what I believe in and no one teased me afterwards.

Once my dad said that my teammate was not good at baseball. I told my dad that what he said was mean and he was a great player. It made feel proud and better.

Once, I was playing two square with some people, and they wouldn't allow me to play with them. I said,"No fair. We're Americans, we have freedom! (I said something like that, but not exactly.)". Then they agreed and allowed me and some other people to play two-square with them. I am glad that I stood up that time because everyone enjoyed the game until recess was over and the incident was forgotten. True story.

About a year ago, one of my friends were being bullied by another person because she accidently hurt her. I told that bully she didn't need to be mean! It was only an accident! The bully just walked away madly.

It happened when my parents were going to register for summer camp. I wanted to sign up for horse back riding camp and my parents said that couldn't do it because the last time, I went on a pony ride at this huge carnival and I fell in to the mud, and since this time was real horse back riding and not riding on a small pony with someone holding on to the horse.I stood up for myself and my parents registered for the camp.

It all started when I was registering for horse back riding camp.My parents thought I couldn't do it because the last time I went horse back riding I was at a huge carnival and there was a pony ride program. The horse took a couple steps and I fell off of the horse into the mud. Plus, it was a super calm pony and its owner was holding on to him. At this summer camp I will have a high chance of getting bucked off and no one will be holding on to the horse. I stood up for myself and now I am registered for the summer camp.

One time I stood up for myself was when someone was saying that I did a problem wrong. I explained to them how I got my answer and they said, "Oh... I guess you are right, sorry," and they changed they're answer. I stood up for my answer, and it made me feel proud. I felt good because I knew they were probably really embarrassed.

One time, when I went skiing, there was this really, really, steep and big hill. I asked my dad to go on it with me, but he said no. In other words, he was afraid. Then, I came up with an idea. I told him that if he went on it with me just this once, I'd never bug him about this hill again. And guess what? It worked! Right after I got to the bottom, I felt like asking my dad to go on it again.

I don't normally stand up for things i believe in. Especially cause I'm young. But, occasionally, I do. A time where I stood up for myself is when I had to get braces. I begged my mom not to make my get them. But she didn't give me much of a choice. I was scared. I didn't know what it would feel like and I didn't know whether I would get bullied or not. The first night I had them my brother told me that if someone made fun of me he would go talk to them. As it turned out, he was the first one and only one to make fun of me. Getting braces has had a positive and negative affect on me.

I would go with Sam because the British are so far away so they can't boss you around. Also not everyone can afford taxes. I feel that Sam is the person I should trust.

One time I was kinda sick but not very sick. my parents told me not to go to school. I felt going was important for me. Perhaps I can manage the time for the day because I knew studying was very important for me. I stood up on my principle and insisted to go to school. Finally my parents let me go to school and I was OK. After words, I felt I did the right thing. I felt good.

Once someone told me the name of a pencil. Then it became very popular in my school so then people started calling it the wrong name. I usually try to correct them but people usually don't listen. I know that the name my friend told me is right because he knew about the pencil in first grade. Now whenever someone calls it the wrong name, I get a little annoyed so I try to tell them that it's not the right name for it.

I stood up for the belief that I brushed my teeth well enough, but my brother said that I didn't. I did not go brush my teeth again so my brother took away my sheets. I felt very cold and upset.

Once my friends and I thought people with cutting supplies were going to cut down our favorite tree at Saratoga Elementary School. We loved that tree so we stood by the tree even though people (classmates) told us not to stand there and waste every recess that day. The next day they didn't cut down the tree...and we found out that they were just going to trim it. I was really happy when they told us that.

One time I stood up for myself was when I had way too many extra curricular activities. I told my mom, and felt awkward but glad that I had gotten it over with. Now my after school lessons has decreased.
