My Brother Sam is Dead - Chapters 1-6

At this point in the story, we know the war has finally reached Redding Ridge.  Using your book to help you, prove the war has arrived in the Meeker's home town.  You must support your reasons with examples from the novel.

The war had reached Redding Ridge because the rebels went to the Meeker's house and others to get their guns. Also, prices are going higher and merchandise are lowering because of the war. The army occasionally steal cattle or take them without paying just for their army. Therefore, the war had reached Rediing Ridge.

The war has finally reached Redding. some examples are when the cow boys attacked tim and his father. Another example is when the continental officers marched through Redding occasionaly. Also, Mr. Platt said," lawlessness has run wild, common deceny between people has dissipeared, and every man is armed against his neighbor.

You can tell that the War has gone to redding ridge because (according to Tim) there are troops walking here and there, literally. Everybody was talking about the war so it feels as if everyone is in the war. Also, The continental army went up to Life and tried to force him to give up his gun.

You can tell the war has reached the Meeker home because of many reasons. One reason is on pages fifty and fifty-one. It tells when the officer and three other men come to the Meeker house. They ask Life for all his weapons and they whipped Life for saying he had no guns because his sun took it. Also on page fifty-one it say's that the war had finally come to Redding. Those are the reasons why you can tell the war has reached the Meeker home.

To prove that the war has come to redding ridge, there were people who came into the tavern and tried to find the brown bess so they could use it. another was when tim saw people marching up the streets.

I know the war has reached the Meeker's town because of the so-called cow-boys that stopped Tim and Life on the way to their cousin's home. They were cattle stealers and although they claimed they were Tories, their cousins said that they could not be trusted and that the food they stole would eventually go to the Lobsterbacks.

Does the response have to be about Chapters 1-6, because I sent one in about the conflict in Chap. 8, but here is a response for Chapters 1-6:
I think the war has reached the Meeker home because Mr. Heron asked Tim to carry a letter, but it was a secret letter to the Redcoats (Lobsterbacks). Also, he pretended to be a Tory, but he was actually a rebel.

I think the war had reached Redding Ridge, because when the patriots came to the Meeker's tavern they threatened to kill Life if they didn't hand over brown bess, the rifle. Also when Mr.Heron came to ask if Tim would deliver the letter, and he snuck away to deliver it the letter said "If this message is received, we will know that the messenger is reliable". Which also left us wondering if Mr.Heron is a patriot of a tori.and that proves War has came to Redding Ridge.

One example that the war has arrived in the Meekers' is when about 20 men on horses barged into their tavern. The men were dressed in blue uniforms, which meant they were from the Continental Army. They demanded that Life had to give them his Brown Bess. He tried to tell the men that Sam took it, but they wouldn't listen. they harmed him, but they finally left. Also, many injured soldiers came to the tavern and told stories, but mostly the war stayed away from Sams' home.

The war has finally reached Redding Ridge because people start acting differently, soldiers come to town, and skirmishes happen. First, Sam decides that he does not want to be a loyalist, he wants to be a rebel. Life and Sam argue over Sam being a rebel. Second, some rebels reach the Meeker house and demand Life for his gun. However, Sam stole it, so he doesn't have it. The rebel leader does not believe Life, so he gashes him across the cheek. Since the rebels are here in Redding, they "borrowed" all the guns from the loyalists. Third, Mr.Hanon asks Tim to send a letter to Fairfield. Just a small "business" letter, no harm. It turns out that Mr.Hanon may be a rebel in secret and wanted to use Tim as a secret messenger. Those are my reasons for proving that the war has finally come to Redding Ridge.

One example was when the Patriots come to the tavern to take all of their weapons. Another time was when Mr. Heron, who was a Tory, ask Tim to takes business letter. Life didn't want Tim to take the letters, but Tim did it anyways. When Tim read the letter, he figure out that Mr. Heron was a Rebel.

War has cme to the Tory town, Redding Ridge. One example is, Sam decides to be a rebel. Life and Sam argue, which results with Sam running away. Another example was when Mr. Heron asked Tim to send a message, but realized Mr. Heron was a Rebel. The last example was when th Rbels entered the Tavern, looking for a Brown Bess, when Life said he didn't have it, resulting in being whipped and beat by the Rebels.

First, some rebels from the continental army disarm all the tories in Redding Ridge. Also, Mr. Heron asks Tim to deliver a letter to some redcoats, which seem to be more like rebels.

The War has obviously reached Redding Ridge because there are rebels marching everywhere in redding and a few soldiers came to take the guns from the loyalists.

One proof that the war has arrived was when the rebels went to Redding to take the Meeker's gun. Another time was when Tim offered to take Mr.Heron's letter to Fairfield.
The third one is when he Tim was thinking either he was a rebel or a loyalist.

One example that the war has finally reached Meeker's home town is because a bunch a patriots who were wearing blue uniforms which proved they were in the Continental army, broke into Tim's tavern. They demanded Life to give up his Brown Bess when he didn't have it.

There are a few ways to prove that the war has reached Redding Ridge. In Chapter 4, the Continental Army come to Tim's tavern to make Tim's father give them the weapons. A second example takes place in Chapter 9. Tim's father is captured by some "cow-boys" and brought somewhere, who knows what "somewhere" might be. This war is definitely tearing up Tim's family. Sam is with the Rebels, while their parent's are against him. Now Tim's father is stranded somewhere, maybe already dead. Also, Mr. Heron asked Tim to deliver a letter. That means there are secret messages going between Redding and Fairfield. These are a few reasons that tell that the war reached Redding Ridge.

i think that war has come to Redding Ridge because :
1. the patriots have disarmed the Tories.
2.in that letter it said "if the message is received then the messenger is reliable." indirectly this means that he doesn't trust Tories so he must be a rebel.

I have many examples. One of them is when Tim was out in the barn doing work and the rebels came to his house to steal all of the guns at the home. This is a good example because it means they are preparing for the war. They were unarming all of the tories so there was more of a chance that they would win.

I know the war has shown up in town because people in Redding Ridge are choosing sides Tories or Rebels. Neibors are turning against each other like when Mr.Heron told Tim to deliver the letter to Mr.Burr. Also when Tom Warrups let Sam, a Patriot stay in his home. Another reason is the British are taking cattle and spices, food, and drinks are going up. Thats how I know the war is coming to Redding Ridge.

I think war has reached Redding Ride because of the troops going around. Mr.Heron been getting suspicous and Sam has gone to war

Harshil said...

The war had finally reached the Redding Ridge because the Continental Army asked Life for weapons. Secondly, the British Troops marched through the town in Redding Ridge. Thirdly, the Army also stole cattle from farms, and if Army paid, they gave very low price.

So, I feel that the war had reached Redding Ridge.

One example, was that when the rebels were collecting all the weapons they can get from the Tory families. The rebels forced Life to hand the Brown Bess, but he tried to explain that Sam has taken the gum and ran off to fight for the rebels. They didn't believe him and hurt him, but left.

The war has come to Redding Ridge because in chapter 4, the continentals came to the tavern demanding that Life give up the gun. Mr.Heron asked Tim to deliver "
"business letters". In chapter 1, Sam came home in a fancy uni form.

Some reasons I think the war has reached the Meeker's house is... First,A few Rebels come to their house demanding for the gun(Brown Bess)but Tim's father says he doesn't have it because Sam took it to fight in the army so the Rebels skids the knife across Tim's father's face. Another reason is that food is getting scarce because the army keeps stealing and buying most of the food. But if they buy it they don't pay much. The last reason, is that Mr. Heron asks Tim to send a letter to Mr. Burr but Tim's father says no, but Tim really wants to so he takes it. Later on the way to his house he open the letter thanks to Betsy Reed and finds out Mr. Heron may be a Rebel.

I think the war has arrived at redding ridge because Tim's father disappeared.
there also were cowboys that tried to hurt life and soldiers who wanted their gun.
